League Two side Accrington Stanley is preparing to discuss the terms of a summer deal for seasoned EFL centre-forward Cole Stockton.
The 32-year-old forward is currently a free agent, having recently departed Salford City following a two-year stint at the Peninsula Stadium. However, according to reports from Alan Nixon, Stockton is poised to be offered the opportunity to extend his stay in Lancashire, as Stanley are reportedly eager to finalise a deal swiftly before the start of pre-season training.
The Liverpudlian’s illustrious EFL career spans well over 300 appearances, having represented numerous clubs across the North of England, particularly within his native Red Rose county. A new challenge in familiar surroundings could be exactly what Stockton needs to revitalise his form, especially after netting just three times in the fourth tier last season, numbers well short of his previous very high standards.
Accrington Stanley Seek To Remedy Goal Shortage
Accrington Stanley manager John Doolan will likely be prioritising an influx of goals for his squad, a persistent issue that plagued his team throughout the previous campaign.
