Manchester United are once again gearing up for a move to sign Leicester City youngster Louis Page, with talks underway over a move.
The Red Devils were touted with a move for the Foxes teenager last month, but were facing competition from two Premier League rivals in Aston Villa and Arsenal.
Page Deal Goes On
While talks of a move away from the King Power died down in the weeks since those initial reports, it is now believed that United are attempting a deadline-beating move to bring in the midfielder.
According to a joint report from Sam C and Ben Jacobs, United are trying to press on with a deal to sign Page, and have entered talks with Russell Martin’s side to try and beat the clock.
It is believed that Arsenal are still tracking a potential deal for the 18-year-old, who is poised to be involved in Leicester’s League One match against Plymouth Argyle tonight.
Since his debut last summer, Page has played 25 senior games in the East Midlands and has been a regular option for the incumbent Foxes manager as part of his plans to try and bring the club back into the Championship at the first time of asking.
Unlike other players linked with a move away, such as Wout Faes and Stephy Mavididi, the defensive-minded midfielder has remained involved in the first team, playing all 90 minutes in the goalless draw against MK Dons over the weekend.
Is It Too Late For United?
With several Premier League clubs coveting a deal for Louis Page, it seems that Manchester United are once again trying to get a move over the line, with just hours to complete a move before it is too late.
Louis Page has shown immense talent when called upon by Leicester City, and is certain to play a major role in the squad this season as Russell Martin looks to the youth options at the club to try and spark a revival.
While the allure of Manchester United is impossible to turn down for many players breaking through in senior football, this one might have come a day too late, with the fact that Leicester are playing tonight adding extra complications to a deal.
It is surely a move that will once again be considered in January, and while that particular race could be even harder to win given Arsenal’s interest, but for now, it looks to be one just narrowly out of reach for Michael Carrick.
