Bromley are now set to sign Notts County‘s Jodi Jones after the two clubs agreed on a deal to sign the wing-back.
The Ravens had been pursuing the Maltese international for weeks, and reports in the middle of August had stated that both clubs had held advanced talks over a move for the 28-year-old to head to South London.
Jones Breakthrough Made
However, pieces had started to be put in place to allow a deal to take place, most notably with the recruitment of Salford City wing-back Rosaire Longelo, who is set to undergo a medical with Notts County today, according to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke.
Now, in a new report from O’Rourke, the Magpies have agreed a deal to sell Jones to Bromley, bringing an end to his three-year, two-promotion association with the club.
He has not featured in Martin Paterson’s squad so far this season, with his final appearance being in the League Two playoff final victory at Wembley over Salford, in which he scored and assisted.
Andy Woodman’s side have already recruited an alternative wing-back option in the form of Mickel Miller, and have been eyeing final additions to their squad, including a new forward amid a rejected loan move for Manchester United’s Victor Musa.
Inevitable Exit Completed
Having been a long-time star for Notts County ever since his loan move from Oxford, it does seem that it is a shame that Jodi Jones is leaving the club after just three years.
But with his absence from every single Magpies matchday squad so far this season, it has now become inevitable that the 28-year-old was on his way out, especially with rumours growing over the past month.
Jones is now on his way to Bromley, where he will be a key player to help Andy Woodman’s side establish themselves as a midtable competitor, building a strong platform to build from for the future.
While they took a heavy blow at the weekend with their demolition at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday, Jones should come in and hand the Ravens an immediate improvement on both sides of the ball, and could end up being one of the signings of the window if he can make an impact over the next few months.
