Jack Wilshere has given his opinion on Luton Town loanee Kasey Palmer after suggestions that he would like a permanent move to the Hatters from Hull City.

The Tigers sanctioned a late January window exit for the attacking midfielder amid their push for the Championship playoffs, with Palmer thriving at Kenilworth Road in what has been a dour season for Town.

However, there is a growing feeling that the 29-year-old could make a permanent switch to Bedfordshire beyond this season, fueled by his celebration for his first Hatters goal against Doncaster Rovers.

Wilshere Discusses Palmer Future

Opening the scoring just before the half-hour mark, Palmer’s celebration saw him make a signing gesture towards the travelling Luton contingent, fueling speculation that a deal could be struck with Hull at the end of the season.

Palmer, who joined the East Yorkshire side from Coventry City back in the summer of 2024, is under contract with Sergej Jakirovic’s outfit until 2027, with the Tigers also able to exercise a further year extension on that original deal.

When discussing whether any talks had taken place over a permanent switch, Jack Wilshere told Luton Today:

“No, I haven’t, honestly I haven’t, I saw it and it’s nice that a player of that quality, a player of that level, wants to stay here and wants to help us.

“It’s credit to everyone here that the environment we create, because we probably haven’t got the results we’ve wanted since he’s been in, but he obviously feels like it’s a good place to be. It’s a place where he sees once we can find a little bit more rhythm, we can go in the right direction. He wants to be part of that, so that makes me happy, but I haven’t spoken to him about it.

“He’s someone that we love, we think he can help the club now and potentially going forward as well, but at the moment, we’re not thinking about that. We need to focus on now and trying to get closer to the play-offs and trying to win the next game which is tomorrow (against Wycombe Wanderers). Kasey’s in a good moment, so hopefully he can help us do that.”

Is A Move Feasable?

With Kasey Palmer clearly enjoying life at Luton Town, it would make sense for him and both Hull City and Luton Town to try and reach some agreement over a permanent transfer.

Hull under Sergej Jakirovic have reached the levels they were once at under Liam Rosenior, and seemingly, Palmer has no future in his first team plans with the successes of Joe Gelhardt and Lewis Koumas, both of whom could make permanent switches from Leeds United and Liverpool respectively.

Palmer has been a breath of fresh air for Town in a tough season, with his efforts not going unnoticed, even if it is in limited chunks as he rebuilds his fitness after struggling for months.

The Jamaican international is still under contract at the MKM Stadium, meaning that a sizable fee would be needed to pry Palmer away, which may become an issue as the Hatters invest in a new stadium at Power Court.

However, with Town likely aiming for a Championship return before they move away from Kenilworth Road, hefty investment could come this summer, which could pave the way for the 29-year-old to become a permanent player.
