Leicester City are weighing up a potential move for former Brentford forward Myles Peart-Harris, according to reports.
The 23-year-old joined the Bees in 2021 from fellow Premier League club Chelsea. He joined then-League One outfit Forest Green Rovers on a season-long deal in 2022, where he gained his first experience of regular senior football.
After impressing in Gloucestershire, he was a part of Brentford’s squad for the first half of the 2023/24 campaign, but was loaned to Portsmouth in January 2024. This saw the former England youth international pick up a League One winners medal as Pompey were promoted to the Championship.
A further temporary spell followed, this time at Swansea City, where he racked up 29 league appearances before injury ended his season prematurely. A return to the Gtech Community Stadium last season saw him on the fringes of the squad, although he made one Premier League outing before joining Oxford United in a permanent short-term deal in January.
Peart-Harris Attracting Host Of Attention
Peart-Harris enjoyed a relatively successful period at the Kassam Stadium on a personal level, scoring three times in 18 appearances. However, he was one of 10 players released following their relegation from the Championship last month.
He has already been linked with a move to Leyton Orient, but two more clubs have now reportedly joined the race. According to Football League World, Queens Park Rangers and Leicester City are both keen on acquiring the services of the ex-Chelsea youngster.
The report states that QPR have a long-standing interest in the versatile attacker and are finally hoping to land their man on a free transfer this summer. However, a drop to League One with Leicester could prove the more appealing option due to the prospect of regular first team football at a club that is expected to be challenging for a league title.
Leicester Could Revitalise Peart-Harris
Leicester’s fall from Premier League champions to England’s third tier in the space of 10 years has garnered plenty of attention in recent weeks. There’s little doubt that a new era is underway at the King Power Stadium, which will be accompanied by a period of rebuilding.
Russell Martin has taken the job in the dugout whilst a raft of players are expected to depart before the start of the new campaign in August. This means there will also be a host of new arrivals, and the East Midlanders spending power makes them favourites to be crowned League One champions next May.
This could be a blessing for Peart-Harris, who will undoubtedly still feel he can carve out a career in the Premier League. He was highly rated at Chelsea as a teenager and he would have hoped that Brentford would have given him that opportunity. It didn’t quite work out though.
Therefore, a move to Leicester does feel sensible. He has impressed in League One earlier in his career and is clearly a player who can thrive at that level. This would give him the platform to kick on the following year and work his way back up to the top tier.
