Luton Town manager Jack Wilshere is expecting a busy end to the January transfer window as he looks to strengthen for their play-off challenge.
The former Arsenal player guided his side to a 1-0 victory over Blackpool over the weekend.
The victory leaves the Hatters six points off 6th-place Huddersfield Town, having played a game less than the Yorkshire side.
With the transfer window open until 2nd February at 7pm, Wilshere is keen to add further quality to his side.
What Has Wilshere Said About Incomings at Luton Town?
Speaking to Luton Today after they beat the Seasiders, the Hatters boss said there would “definitely” be incomings. He said:
“I said yesterday that me and the recruitment team are working really hard and we will be. I’m actually glad that it shuts at seven so I can get home before midnight on Monday.
“We’re working, I’ll be speaking with them now, we’ll be in tomorrow looking to try and find solutions to improve the team.”
Who Have They Signed This Window?
Wilshere has been busy already this window, bringing in three new players.
Emilio Lawrence, who joined the club on loan from Manchester City at the start of the window, has played four games for the club. He’s yet to really impress, receiving an average Sofascore rating of 6.43 for his performances.
Questions have been raised over his immediate inclusion in the starting 11. This led to the Luton Town Chairman denying that they have an agreement with City that he must play.
Experienced Championship player Kasey Palmer has also joined on loan until the end of the season from Hull City.
He’s played and started three games since joining, catching the eye in their victory over Blackpool. Palmer received a 7.5 from Sofascore, finishing the game with a pass accuracy of 88% and four defensive contributions.
Devante Cole is their most recent signing. He made the move to Luton Town from Port Vale after scoring nine goals in 19 games for the league’s bottom side.
Cole’s signing could be crucial for Luton’s promotion charge this season. In his last full season in League One, he scored 18 goals in 46 games. If they can give him the service, he could be a fantastic signing.
