Blackburn Rovers are amongst a trio of clubs chasing the signature of Wrexham striker Davis Keillor-Dunn, according to reports.
The 28-year-old only made the return to STōK Cae Ras in February after initially leaving the club in 2020. The move came about after a stunning 18 months at Barnsley, where he scored 31 goals in 66 League One appearances.
The Tykes took a punt on the attacker after he helped guide Mansfield Town back into England’s third tier in 2024. It’s fair to say he was a big hit at Oakwell before his eventual return to North Wales. However, he immediately found himself on the fringes of the squad, completing just 81 minutes of Championship action over the course of the second half of last season.
Blackburn Hoping For Late Additions
It’s been an exceptionally quiet transfer window for Blackburn, with just three new faces arriving through the door. As such, they have been widely tipped to battle against relegation.
They suffered their first league defeat of the new campaign on Saturday following a 2-1 home defeat against Queens Park Rangers and travel to Lincoln City tomorrow night. With the transfer window set to close on the same night, it appears as if the recruitment team will be busy away from the ProAmpac Stadium.
Manager Tony Mowbray is keen to strengthen his attacking options, especially because Andri Gudjohnsen remains the only senior out-and-out striker within the squad. As such, Football League World claim that Keillor-Dunn has emerged as a target.
Bolton & Charlton Also Keen
Whilst Blackburn are one of the teams in the hunt for Keillor-Dunn, it is also believed that Championship rivals Bolton Wanderers and Charlton Athletic are keen. The Trotters may also be tempted to add to their attacking options after suffering a 1-0 home defeat against Lincoln on Saturday.
Charlton have enjoyed an excellent start and are now the only club in the EFL to boast a 100% record. Having also been tipped for a relegation fight, Nathan Jones may also be looking for that final piece of the jigsaw.
It is worth noting that Rovers are the only one of the trio to have not brought in a striker this summer. Bolton have acquired Ryan Hardie on loan, ironically from Wrexham, whilst the Addicks landed Karlan Grant on a free transfer following his departure from West Bromwich Albion.
Any deal for Keillor-Dunn at this stage of the window is likely to be a loan, especially as he still has three years remaining on his existing deal. League One duo Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday have also been linked in recent months, but it seems as if the former Burton Albion man will be remaining in the Championship.
