Bolton Wanderers are reportedly being made to wait on a deal to sign Gent striker Max Dean, despite a medical being lined up, due to the Belgian side wanting more than the reported one million pound fee that was offered to them.
Dean has enjoyed a successful spell in the Belgian Pro League, making 56 appearances across all competitions and finding the net 20 times for Gent.
The Englishman made the move from MK Dons, where the former Leeds United Academy graduate impressed massively during the 2023/24 League Two season. He netted 19 goals and five assists in just 34 games for the Dons, guiding them to the Playoffs.
It seemed that the 22-year-old’s time away from England was coming to an end, but he is set to wait a little bit longer to make his return to his home country.
Bolton Waiting To Complete Dean Deal
According to Alan Nixon, Bolton Wanderers are still being made to wait to complete a permanent deal for Gent striker Max Dean.
There was reportedly a medical lined up for Dean at Bolton, but the move has been put on hold as the Belgian side are not happy with the package that the Wanderers are offering.
The Greater Manchester-based side are reportedly happy to pay over the original £1 million fee in order to secure the striker’s services.
A Must-Complete Deal for Bolton?
Dean is a proven goalscorer in both England and now Belgium, and the Wanderers will surely be desperate to add Dean to their attacking options alongside Ryan Hardie, who they also signed this week from Wrexham.
With the fee likely not to exceed the two million pound mark, it seems like a no-brainer for Steven Schumacher’s side to bring the Englishman to North-West England.
The Whites will hope that a deal can be agreed on as soon as possible, as they officially begin their Championship return after a seven-year hiatus at home against Preston North End this Saturday.
