Yeovil Town are closing in on their 13th signing of the summer, this time raiding one of their National League rivals and not for the first time.
Billy Rowley’s side have undergone a busy few weeks since the 2025/26 season came to an end, bringing in players from across the board including Doncaster Rovers midfielder Zain Westbrooke, Sutton United’s Hayden Muller and Carlisle United’s Archie Davies.
However, for the second time this summer, they appear set to raid one of their other National League rivals for a signing.
Yeovil eye striker move
The Glovers have been extremely busy in the transfer window so far, though only three of their 12 additions are attacking options, with Stephen Walker being the only striker through the door.
In recent days, Yeovil have welcomed former Huddersfield Town forward Rhys Healey to the club for training – though there has been no confirmation as to whether this is in view to a permanent move or simply to help him maintain his fitness.
However, Yeovil fans won’t have to wait too much longer to secure their latest forward – with a second striker set to join the club before the start of next season.
As reported by journalist Chris Phillips, Yeovil Town are closing in on a deal to sign Southend United forward Slavi Spasov for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old joined the Shrimpers from Slough Town last summer, making 25 league appearances for then-manager Kevin Maher and scored seven times as well as providing two additional assists.
He is under contract at Roots Hall, so will almost certainly be in receipt of an undisclosed fee – once the two clubs come to an agreement.
Is Spasov the man Yeovil needs?
Yeovil have already said farewell to several strikers since the conclusion of the previous campaign – opening themselves up to bringing in fresh faces for that position.
The Glovers currently have just two strikers at the club – Stephen Walker and James Daly, meaning that if they had plans to play a front two next season, they’d desperately need at least one new face.
Though Spasov had reduced minutes for Southend last season, he still averaged a goal every 160 minutes, which given he often appeared off the bench – makes those numbers positive for Yeovil.
The 24-year-old also scored against Yeovil in November during a 1-0 victory, though only managed two goals in the entirety of 2026 thus far.
It is also important to realise that Spasov’s standout season at Slough featured him up front on his own, whilst at Southend he was in a front two – which could be a suggestion as to why he wasn’t necessarily a regular starter during the previous campaign.
