Oxford United are set to be placed under a transfer embargo, derailing their plans in the build-up to their League One return.
The Yellows have undergone some changes in the off-season, having offloaded Matt Bloomfield in order to hand former Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey his first permanent appointment in management.

However, their transfer business has hit a major roadblock, with the Athletic’s Tom Burrows reporting that the club have been hit with a temporary transfer embargo, which will prevent the registration of any new players.
It is believed that it has been enforced due to United’s inability to prove they can adequately fund their player expenditure and playing budget for the upcoming season.
The move, which is expected to be formally announced later today, will hinder their chances of getting some deals over the line, and delay the registration of Jordan Thomas, who was expected to join as a free agent according to The 72.
One face has already come through the door at the Kassam Stadium, with Frankie Kent joining following his exit from Scottish Premiership side Hearts of Midlothian, which was confirmed at the end of June.
