Stoke City are reportedly ready to part ways with striker Sam Gallagher, as the club looks to sign another two forwards during this summer transfer window.

The Potters have reportedly made it clear that they would be happy for Gallagher to depart the club for a low fee in order to save some money from the current wage bill.

Gallagher joined Stoke from Blackburn Rovers at the beginning of the 2024/25 Championship campaign and has made 42 appearances for the club, scoring just five times.

Potters Ready to Part Ways With Gallagher

According to Alan Nixon, Stoke City are set to let Sam Gallagher leave the club, as potential incoming reinforcements have meant that he has become surplus to requirements.

After a disappointing spell with the Potters, and with his game time already being limited at the club, they believe now is the best time to move Gallagher on as they look to upgrade their forward options.

His rank in the pecking order in Staffordshire was further damaged in January following the £4.8 million signing of Milan Smit, who joined Lamine Cisse and Divin Mubama as regulars under Mark Robins last season.

Gallagher is reportedly on a high salary for a Championship forward, and with one year left on his contract, Stoke are seemingly happy to concede a large fee in order to get his wages off their bill.

The Best Move for Both Parties?

As much as Gallagher would like to prove himself to manager Mark Robins, it is likely too late now after two mediocre seasons with the club.

Now 30 years old, the Scottish international is entering his final years at the peak of his abilities, and game time is vital for Gallagher if he wants to regain the form we saw him achieve at Blackburn Rovers.

However, it is time he is not going to be afforded under Robins with Milan Smit and Robert Bozenik already at the club, likely to be joined by two new faces in the coming weeks.

A move suits both parties excellently, as Gallagher will be able to find a club that will give him game time week in and week out, while Stoke City frees up a large sum on their wage bill, which they can reinvest into improvements in the squad.
