Southend United have submitted an offer to sign a current National League winger, as they aim to return to winning ways once again.
The Shrimpers are winless in their last four matches across all competitions, a run which continues to include their shock FA Cup exit at the hands of Berkhamsted last month.
This slip in form has allowed rival sides such as AFC Fylde, Yeovil Town and Worthing to all move to within a point of Southend, heading into this weekend’s matches.
However, it appears as though Kieron Dyer is set to address his side’s poor form through further recruitment.
Southend submit winger offer
In recent days, journalist Pete O’Rourke reported that Southend United had loan-listed trio Sahid Kamara, Harry Taylor and Tommy Backwell.

Taylor has since signed for fellow National League side Hornchurch on loan until January, but could another one be on his way out?
O’Rourke has reported via his social media page, that Southend have submitted a bid for Woking winger Matt Ward and have offered Sahid Kamara on loan as part of that deal.
Ward is well-known to Dyer having worked with each other within the academy setup at Premier League side Ipswich Town.
In all competitions this season, the 23-year-old has registered 14 appearances thus far, scoring four goals and providing an additional assist.
Is this a sensible deal for all parties?
Ward’s contract with Woking expires at the end of the 2026/27 campaign, thus leaving the Cardinals with a decision to make regarding his future.
So far, the 23-year-old has impressed for the club but hasn’t featured since early-October amidst an ongoing injury crisis at the club.
Whilst he is a key player for Woking thus far, the money involved could allow for two or three new additions elsewhere to give them a greater chance at achieving something this season, whilst gaining another player in return.
Kamara has contributed to two goals in 11 outings for Southend, but has mainly been used as an option off the bench rather than a starter – suggesting he could be in need of further minutes too.
The two players play in the same position at present, with the deal allowing Woking to gain an immediate replacement for Ward and money to spent, whilst Southend would gain a player their management team are already familiar with.
It remains to be seen whether the two clubs are willing to negotiate and agree a deal, but this could be a deal that suits Woking both short and long-term.
