Reading look set to lose out on the transfer of Wrexham defender Dan Scarr, who appears on the verge of a move to ambitious League Two side Salford City, according to reports.
The Royals have endured a poor start to the season and currently sit 23rd in League One. However, they have played one game less than the rest of the division after their fixture against Oxford United last weekend was moved to next week.
They began the campaign with a 4-3 defeat against Luton Town in a game in which they led 3-1 at half time. They followed that with a lacklustre 0-0 draw with AFC Wimbledon.
Reading Keen To Strengthen Further
Reading have made seven signings so far this summer, with the latest being the loan acquisition of Josh Knight from Portsmouth last week. The 28-year-old does bolster Leam Richardson’s back line and joins fellow defensive recruits Conor Masterson and Udoka Godwin-Malife.
The manager stated last week that he was keen to add further to his squad, although admitted that they have missed out on a range of targets over the last few weeks. Speaking to BBC Radio Berkshire, he said:
“We’ve obviously missed out on a few, there’s some moving parts within that and I’ll always want more because I want the best for this football club.
“We’ve got to evolve and move forward, our recruitment team have been working hard all summer alongside me to make the best decisions for this football club.”
Scarr Set For League Two Move
Reading were linked with a move for Wrexham centre-back Dan Scarr last week, who looks set to leave North Wales before the end of the transfer window tomorrow night. The 31-year-old has fallen out of favour with manager Phil Parkinson and has been an unused substitute in all three of their Championship outings to date.
It now appears as if he is ready to join the ambitious project at Salford. According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, the former Plymouth Argyle man has agreed a permanent move with the League Two outfit.

The Ammies have pulled off a number of coups throughout the summer, including the likes of Macaulay Langstaff, Luke Molyneux, Brendan Wiredu and Will Aimson. This has made them the favourites to run away with the title as they look to earn promotion to League One for the first time in their history.
Despite that, new manager Peter Cklamovski has overseen a dreadful start. Salford have lost their first three games with the most recent being a 1-0 defeat at Shrewsbury Town. As a result, they currently sit 23rd in the fourth tier.
