Lincoln City defender Adam Reach has set his sights on ending their poor home form this season as the Imps prepare for back-to-back games at the ProAmpac Stadium.
After winning League One at a canter last season, Lincoln earned a spot in England’s second tier for the first time in 65 years. Despite amassing an incredible 103 points and finishing 12 points clear of nearest challengers Cardiff City, they were still widely tipped to suffer instant relegation.
Those opinions always seemed harsh though, and it’s fair to say the opening stages of the campaign have shown they deserve their spot in the division. 12 points from their opening 11 games see the East Midlands-based outfit sit 18th in the table, four points above the drop zone.
Contrasting Form
Lincoln have shown for the most part that they are an incredibly tough team to beat. However, their home and away form shows a major contrast.
On the road, Tom Shaw and Chris Cohen’s teams have picked up vital wins over Bolton Wanderers, Preston North End and Bristol City – the latter of which are now managed by former boss Michael Skubala. They also picked up a 2-2 draw at Millwall last weekend, a game in which they led 2-0 at half time.
This seems them sit fifth in the away league table, but their results at Sincil Bank are a different story. Two points from five outings is the joint-worst in the Championship, whilst they suffered a humbling 6-0 defeat (albeit with nine men) last time out against West Ham United.

Reach Targets Home Improvement
Last season, only Exeter City left the ProAmpac Stadium with all three points in what was arguably the best season in the club’s history. Portsmouth, Swansea City and West Ham have all triumphed this season, but Lincoln will be aiming to put a halt to the rot, starting with tomorrow’s visit of Burnley.
Although the Clarets were playing Premier League football last season, they do sit in the bottom three and have an ever-growing injury crisis. As such, City defender Adam Reach is targeting three points.
The versatile 33-year-old penned a one-year extension to his current deal yesterday and has started 10 of the 11 league games so far this season. Speaking to official club media upon the announcement, the ex-Middlesbrough star highlighted the importance of the upcoming two fixtures:
“It’s doubly frustrating because of how formidable we were at home last year.
“We’ve had some really good results and performances away from home and we’ve been really good in spells at home.
“The difference is the level of quality. When we’re on top, which we have been in home games, you have to take your chances.
“Ultimately, at this level, if you give away a few opportunities, sometimes even half-chances, teams are going to take them and you find yourselves chasing the game.”
Following tomorrow’s outing, the Imps host Birmingham City next Saturday in a lunchtime kick off.
