Robbie Savage and Matt Bloomfield are both expected to be interviewed for the vacant managerial position at Peterborough United, according to reports.
Posh are on the lookout for a new man in the dugout after parting company with Luke Williams earlier this month. The decision came following a 2-0 home defeat at Doncaster Rovers, which left the club languishing in the relegation places after seven games.
Ryan Harley and Connell Rawlinson were named in interim charge whilst work to find Williams’ successor is undertaken. The pair oversaw a 1-0 loss against Stockport County on Saturday in a result which kept them 23rd in the League One table.
Savage Rumours Confirmed
News emerged on Saturday that Forest Green Rovers boss Robbie Savage was a serious contender for the position at the Weston Home Stadium. It was talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook that broke the news, prompting the former Wales midfielder to be questioned about the links prior to his side’s National League clash against Sutton United.
Although he declared he wasn’t aware of any approach, it was more what he didn’t say that was perhaps more telling. This prompted chairman Darragh MacAnthony to address the links later in the day, where he stated ‘do not believe anything in the press’.

It now appears as if Savage is indeed set to be interviewed for the positon later today, with Peterborough Telegraph confirming they have learnt that the 51-year-old is set for talks today.
Bloomfield Also Among Contenders
Of course, Peterborough know they need to get the next appointment right or run the risk of dropping down to League Two next season. As such, a number of candidates are set to be spoken to in the coming days.
Aside from Savage, it is claimed that Matt Bloomfield is also a contender. The 42-year-old has been out of work since the summer following his exit from Oxford United.
He took charge of the U’s in January but was unable to halt their slide down the Championship table, with relegation confirmed in May. This marked the second successive campaign in which he had overseen a demotion from the second tier after he tasted the same fate with Luton Town 12 months earlier.
Despite that, his stock remains high in League One, thanks in part to the stellar job he did at Wycombe Wanderers between 2023 and 2025. That makes him an attractive prospect to Peterborough who despite their current lowly position, harbour ambitions of challenging for the top six.
