Several League One teams, including Sheffield Wednesday and Stockport County, are interested in Doncaster Rovers captain, Owen Bailey.
Bailey impressed last campaign for Donny as they managed to pull themselves clear of the drop zone.
The 27-year-old’s performances earned him a place in the League One Team of the Season and now, the interest of several of the league’s biggest teams.

Football Insider’s transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke has shared that Sheffield Wednesday are in “hot pursuit” of the midfielder.
They aren’t the only team looking at the 27-year-old, though. O’Rourke has confirmed that Oxford United, Stockport County, Bradford City, and MK Dons are also keen on the Donny captain.
It’s reported that Bailey has one year remaining on his deal, but Doncaster Rovers have an option to extend his stay for a further year.
Easy to See Why Clubs Are Interested
Bailey played and started all 46 of Doncaster’s League One games last season. His average Sofascore rating of 7.01 was the highest in the squad.
The 27-year-old also finished the campaign as Donny’s top scorer. His 13 goals were five more than Luke Molynuex. Bailey also recorded 1.5 shots per game and 0.5 shots on target per game.
Creatively, Bailey registered four assists, while creating 11 big chances and averaging 0.9 key passes per game.
He, of course, had to do his part defensively. Bailey finished the season with 0.8 interceptions per game, 1.4 tackles per game, 2.7 clearances per game, and 3.2 balls recovered per game.
Will Bailey Join Sheffield Wednesday?
Sheffield Wednesday are an exciting prospect at the moment. Under the new ownership of Arise Capital, there is a lot of optimism around the club.
They will be able to bring in new players this summer but will need to do that quickly and efficiently to make sure they are ready for the new season.
Bailey could be a great option for the club. He proved last season that he is capable of performing at this level, even in a team that struggled for the most part.
If he is surrounded by other quality players, Bailey could really flourish and take his game to the next level, all while helping to boost the Owls’ promotion hopes.
The competition from other clubs won’t make things easy and the last thing Henrik Pedersen will likely want to do is enter into a bidding war for the midfielder.
