Reading have agreed a deal for a striker who scored 14 League One goals last season.
The Royals have had a slow start to their League One campaign. After two games, they’ve picked up just one point.
In a bid to improve on their start, Reading are in the market for new players to add more quality to their team.
With just over 24 hours left in the transfer market, the side have agreed a deal for striker Jamie Reid.

Pete O’Rourke has shared on his X account that Stevenage’s Reid is understood to be set for a medical at Reading after the two clubs agreed a deal.
It comes just a day after O’Rourke confirmed the Royals were closing in on signing the 32-year-old forward.
Firing Stevenage to the Play-Offs
Reid’s goals last season helped Stevenage sneak into the play-offs, pipping Luton Town to the final spot by one point. The Northern Ireland forward scored 14 goals in 44 league appearances, finishing the season as the club’s top scorer.
On top of his goals, Reid averaged 1.9 shots per game, 0.9 shots on target per game, and finished the season with 0.3 goals per game.
Creatively, he grabbed three assists for Stevenage. Reid also created five big chances and averaged 0.5 key passes per game.
Reid’s standout performance last campaign came in his side’s early-season 2-1 victory over Port Vale. The forward scored two late goals to help his side claim all three points. Reid picked up the Sofascore Man of the Match as he received an 8.9 rating.
Proven Goalscorer
Reid appears to be a great addition for the Royals. The forward has proven over recent seasons that he can score goals at both League One and League Two level.
In only one of his last four seasons, the attacker has scored fewer than 10 league goals. Even in that campaign, he narrowly missed out, scoring eight in the 2024/25 season.
His best goalscoring campaign came in the 2024/24 season. Reid scored 18 goals for Stevenage in 42 games, as the side missed out on the play-offs.
If Reading get the best out of Reid, they’ll have a player capable of firing them up the league table.
