Leicester City are set to sign Hibernian defender Warren O’Hora, reuniting the 27-year-old with his former manager in Russell Martin.
The Foxes were linked with a switch for the Irishman earlier this week, with his manager David Gray stating at the time that no offer had been submitted by the League One side.
Swift Move Completed
However, since that update from the Hibs boss, Leicester have since kicked into gear over sealing a potential move, and according to the Daily Record’s Scott Burns, the two clubs have now struck an agreement for O’Hora.
It is believed that the Foxes have tabled a six-figure offer and are now confident that he will be a City player come the end of Deadline Day at 11 pm tonight amid a widespread search for defensive options.
With Wout Faes expected to leave in order to join West Ham United, several options have emerged as candidates to arrive in the East Midlands, such as Coventry City’s Joel Latibeaudiere and Sheffield United‘s Mark McGuinness.
Having played under Martin during their time at MK Dons together, O’Hora has since moved up to Hibernian, playing 85 times for the Edinburgh club over the past two seasons. He has featured nine times for the Easter Road club this campaign, primarily in their UEFA Conference League qualifying campaign.
Have Leicester Got Enough Cover?
Heading into the final weeks of the window amid uncertainty as to Harry Souttar’s future and Ben Nelson’s ACL injury, Leicester City’s priority was a new defender and now, after several names were touted, it seems that Warren O’Hora is the one they have opted for.
Being familiar with Russell Martin and his coaching through their time together at MK Dons, the centre-back could immediately step up as Souttar’s partner going forward, with Caleb Okoli having a less-than-ideal start to the season.
However, with Wout Faes now on his way, arguably Leicester may need to press on further and sign another centre-back before it is too late, with perhaps some apprehension as to whether Ilari Kangasniemi can immediately deliver in his debut season.
Joel Latibeaudiere could be the perfect final addition with Coventry City trying to shift a few more players off their books prior to the deadline, and if they can strike an agreement then they may have finally got enough cover to see through another injury or two at the back.
