High-flying Bristol Rovers are among three League Two clubs monitoring Salisbury striker Nathan Odokonyero following his prolific start to the season.
The Gas are understood to be tracking the 23-year-old alongside divisional rivals Swindon Town and Crawley Town. A number of other clubs are keeping an eye on the striker, who has been in superb form in pre-season, and now into the season proper.
Odokonyero has scored five times in seven appearances for the National League South side, completing 504 minutes across six starts. His goals have helped Salisbury collect 11 points from their opening seven league matches.
Bristol Rovers Monitoring Odokonyero
Bristol Rovers have made an encouraging start to the League Two campaign and are already assessing possible additions capable of strengthening their promotion challenge.
Their interest in Odokonyero appears to be focused on his goalscoring record, age and potential to develop further in a full-time EFL environment. Odokonyero’s performances are attracting increasing attention following his immediate impact at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium.
The striker produced his best performance of the campaign on Tuesday night, scoring a hat-trick as Salisbury thrashed Slough Town 5-1. Caine Bradbury and Jaiden Bartolo also found the net in the five-star victory, which extended Salisbury’s unbeaten run to three matches.
That sequence began with a 1-0 home win over Billericay Town before Brian Dutton’s side earned a point away to Chelmsford City. Salisbury now sit ninth in the National League South table, only two points behind early leaders Tonbridge Angels.
Odokonyero only moved to Salisbury from Worthing this year, with the Whites paying an undisclosed fee to secure his services. His rapid progress could now leave them facing interest from the EFL only weeks after bringing him to Wiltshire.
Striker Has Prolific Non-League Record
Odokonyero spent time in the academies at Brighton and Lincoln before establishing himself in senior non-league football.
His breakthrough came with Bognor Regis Town during the 2022/23 campaign. He scored 25 goals in 34 appearances, building on the double-figure return he had recorded during the previous season.
That form earned him an opportunity with Ebbsfleet United in the National League, although regular playing time proved difficult to secure. He subsequently joined Tonbridge Angels on loan during the second half of the 2023/24 season and rediscovered his scoring touch, registering nine league goals in just 14 appearances. A significant injury disrupted the following campaign before he moved to Worthing and later completed his switch to Salisbury.
Gas Lead League Two Interest
Bristol Rovers’ strong start could make the Memorial Stadium an attractive destination should their interest progress. Odokonyero would offer the Gas a forward with an established scoring record and room to develop, although he would need to prove he can reproduce his National League South form in the EFL.
Swindon and Crawley remain in the picture, potentially leaving Salisbury with a battle to retain one of the sixth tier’s leading early-season performers.
No interested club has made a formal move at this stage and it’s likely they’ll watch the player over the next four months, ahead of the winter window. However, further performances like Odokonyero’s hat-trick against Slough are likely to strengthen the possibility of him earning another opportunity higher up the pyramid.
