Bristol City have completed a signing with Brooke Aspin, this time on a permanent basis. It comes after a long history for the club.
She will be leaving Chelsea for the Robins after playing for them on loan during the 23/24 season. Despite spending three seasons with the Blues, she never made a senior debut for the team.
History With Bristol City
Aspin began her youth career with the Robins at the age of fourteen. She went on to make her way through the youth ranks, remaining loyal to the club.
The defender made her senior debut for the club at the age of just sixteen, and later scored her first goal for the club in their 4-0 victory against Charlton Athletic in a season where they won the Championship.
She then signed with Chelsea at the age of 18 ahead of the 23/24 season on a free transfer; however, she was immediately returned to Ashton Gate on loan, making 20 appearances during their campaign.
Other Achievements
The English international has also appeared on loan for Crystal Palace, making a 45-minute appearance in their match against Aston Villa. However, this spell was cut short after six matches due to a ligament injury.
She made her Young Lionesses debut for the U19 team as they reached the European Championship semi-finals. She was given the opportunity to captain the side in two of their matches.
The defender was then offered the chance to play with the U23 England squad. This was also cut short by her injury, however. Now that she is fit again, she has made a return to the South West.
Returning to the Robins
The 21-year-old will now return to the Ashton Gate Stadium on a permanent basis. It comes after she has made 52 first-team appearances.
In an interview, she spoke of her excitement to be returning to a team that she knows:
“It feels amazing to be back, I started off my journey here and it’s always going to be home so I’m excited to show the fans what I can do again.
“I made my statement here at the club and I want to continue that. I’ve grown as a person and a player and I want to prove to the fans why I’ve come back.”
Head coach Charlotte Healy also spoke highly of the young player:
“We’re delighted to welcome Brooke back to Bristol City Women. She already understands what this club is about and what it means to represent the badge, which makes this an exciting fit for everyone.”

Choosing a player who is familiar with the team and has demonstrated her dedication marks an excellent signing for the Robins. Aspin has undoubtedly earned herself a permanent contract.
As is understood by the club, the 21-year-old still has room for development and improvement. It is vital that they nurture the defender to achieve her full potential.
Finishing fourth in the WSL2 table last season, Bristol City have made their intentions of pushing for promotion clear. Aspin’s short experience with Women’s Super League side Chelsea makes her an appropriate choice for this task.
