Bromley have strengthened their defensive options with the arrival of Adam Jackson, signing the 32-year-old as a free agent after his departure from Lincoln City. The centre-back brings experience across all three EFL divisions and will wear number 45 for the Ravens, who have not disclosed his contract length.
The move gives Bromley a defender whose recent career has largely been spent in League One, alongside earlier spells in the Championship and Scottish Premiership. Jackson became available after agreeing to end his six-year stay at Lincoln earlier this month.
His immediate challenge will be to establish a consistent run of games following an injury-disrupted season. Although Lincoln won the League One title last term, Jackson was restricted to ten appearances before returning to action in the Carabao Cup this summer.
Bromley will hope that return provides a foundation for a more productive spell in League Two. His experience adds another option at the back, although his recent lack of regular football makes it difficult to judge how quickly he can make an impact.
Jackson developed in Middlesbrough’s academy and gained senior experience through loans before joining Barnsley permanently in 2016. He subsequently spent a season with Hibernian, making 14 Scottish Premiership appearances, before moving to Lincoln in August 2020.
That transfer brought the most settled period of his career, with 179 appearances and five goals across six years. Having entered a seventh season with the club, he instead leaves with a promotion on his record and an opportunity to take on a new role at Bromley.
For the Ravens, the signing offers the prospect of adding an established EFL centre-back without a transfer fee. Whether Jackson can put his injury difficulties behind him and turn that experience into regular contributions will determine how successful the move proves.
