West Ham have announced their newest signing, Sienna Waring, for their first squad. It comes after a departure from Manchester United, following a youth career there.
The club have announced that she will play in the number 19 shirt. Staff behind the scenes as well as players themselves are said to be thrilled with the signing.
A Decorated Youth Career
Wareing spent seven years of her career with Manchester United, signing for their youth team at the age of eleven. Since then, her time with the Red Devils has brought many successes for the young player.
Her time in the U21’s team saw her flourish as a player. After a phenomenal final season with the club, she was awarded Player of the Match award for her efforts in a 2-1 victory against Durham.
The midfielder was also awarded Player of the Year in her final season. The club noted that this was also because of her stellar performance against Durham.
International Career
The eighteen-year-old has also represented England with the Young Lionesses. She marks West Ham’s fourth player on the squad to have done so.
Her call-up for the Lionesses happened recently, with her first experience beginning in April during the 2026 UEFA Women’s U19 European Championship.
The midfielder supported the squad in her debut match, helping to secure a 5-0 win against Latvia. She also started in their match against Wales.
A Move to West Ham
West Ham have now announced the Waring will be moving to the club ahead of next season. It comes after her first experience of first-team football with Liverpool Feds last season.
The eighteen-year-old has expressed her excitement to be joining West Ham. Speaking to West Ham TV, she discussed her hopes for her time with The Irons:
“I’m super excited,
“I can’t wait to meet all the girls and get started. I will always work hard for the badge, I will always work hard for my teammates. I will give everything that I can.
“Obviously moving down south is a big thing, it’s my first time moving away from home, but I’m super excited to get started.”
Head Coach Rita Guarino has also welcomed the new midfielder:
“We’re really pleased to welcome Sienna to the Club,
“Sienna is a player that we believe has a lot of potential. She is a creative midfielder who can make things happen in the final third.
“She has recently made her debut for England U19s and I’m sure that she will continue to progress here in east London in a West Ham shirt in years to come.”
A Smart Choice for West Ham?
After a difficult season in the WSL for West Ham, bringing in young talent will help to bring the team further up the table. The creativity that Wareing has demonstrated in midfield makes her a sensible choice for the squad.
Time will tell how well she works with the squad. Inexperience may serve as a limiting factor for her performance, however if she continues to create opportunities, her presence with the team will be felt.

One Response
Always great to see promising young English players given a chance in the WSL.
And I’m sure Sarina’s delighted too !
I am curious though how she could be voted their Academy player of the year for the season just ended and yet still not be offered a professional contract …. ?
