Sheffield Wednesday are set to battle Leyton Orient and an unnamed Scottish club over the services of Isaac Olaofe.
The Charlton Athletic forward has struggled for regular minutes since his arrival at the Valley last summer, with just six starts in the Championship before Nathan Jones opted to loan him back to his former club Stockport County.
Owls Aim For Latest Reinforcement
Now, with no places looking certain at Charlton for the 26-year-old, another loan is set to be sanctioned, with Richard Cawley reporting that a temporary exit is set to happen and could come as soon as the weekend.
That was then followed up by an update from Darren Witcoop, who has revealed the identity of two potential suitors in Sheffield Wednesday and Leyton Orient, both of whom have their own striker needs this summer.
For the Owls, they are looking to add one final option to their attacking ranks before the season starts, but are somewhat bound as to the nature of the business they can complete after it was confirmed that they had hit their EFL-agreed spending limit for the window.
While they have completed one deal to sign Hull City’s Mason Burstow on loan, Henrik Pedersen is in need of a final option after Ike Ugbo’s exit to Apollon Limmasol was sanctioned earlier in the week.
Orient, meanwhile, have been actively pursuing a deal for a new main striker after agreeing to a £5 million sale of Dominic Ballard to Bristol City, with Grimsby Town’s Jaze Kabia also of interest, but face competition from Plymouth Argyle.
In his half-season back at Edgeley Park, Olaofe played 19 times in League One, but struggled to rekindle his previous form for the Hatters with just one goal scored against Wycombe Wanderers in April.
Perfect Final Addition Lined Up For Wednesday
With Mason Burstow already through the door at Hillsborough and Ike Ugbo now on his way out of the club amid controversy, one final addition is needed for Sheffield Wednesday to be fully stocked for the season ahead.
Isaac Olaofe could be that for the Owls, and while his last spell in League One left a lot to be desired, his past history in the division will certainly be an alluring prospect for those clubs keen on a loan deal.
By no means the ultimate standout performer for Stockport County, he is a more than dependable figure who, when complemented by a supporting cast, can be a game-changer for any side.
For Wednesday, they arguably have the perfect man to do that for the 26-year-old, with one of his former Hatters teammates in Louie Barry already in South Yorkshire and ready to play a major role in their chances for promotion.
While Leyton Orient may be the ones in more need of Olaofe this window, the prospect of aiding Wednesday to promotion may be too hard to turn down and therefore the more enticing option to join.
