Salford City have announced that head coach Karl Robinson is to immediately depart the club following the club’s loss in the League Two play-off final.
The 45-year-old helped guide the Ammies to a club record fourth place, only missing out on automatic promotion by a single point, highlighting Salford’s ever-growing frustration around promotion.
A Club Record Season
Under the management of Robinson, the Ammies secured their most impressive season on record with 25 wins, 6 draws and 15 defeats, accumulating 81 points and a positive goal difference. Their strong performances earned them a place in the League Two play-offs for the first time since 2022/23; however, they fell only one point away from automatic promotion at the hands of Cambridge United.
In the play-off semi-finals, Salford overcame Grimsby Town, but their promotion dreams were ended at Wembley Stadium, where they suffered a 3-0 defeat to Notts County in the final.
The club also performed creditably in cup competitions, reaching the fourth round of the FA Cup, producing an eye-catching tie against Premier League giants Manchester City. They also progressed to the EFL Trophy round of 32 before exiting the competition 7-2 against Rotherham United.
