The 22-year-old’s performances certainly caught the attention last season, despite Stanley’s struggles in EFL League Two.

According to Alan Nixon, the Cambridgeshire-based club rates Woods very highly and is ready to make a decisive move to sign him.

How has Woods fared so far?
Ben Woods joined Accrington Stanley in 2023 following a short spell north of the border with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
He has since gone on to make 71 appearances in Lancashire, becoming a permanent fixture in John Doolan’s starting lineup.
The former Manchester United Academy player was a rare bright spark in a season of relative struggle for Stanley.
He finished as the club’s joint leading scorer with nine goals, strikes that proved crucial in ensuring League Two safety. He also registered six assists for The Reds last term.

Having come through the EFL Cup preliminary round after a victory over Oldham Athletic, Accrington have been drawn to host Peterborough in the first round.
