Oxford United are poised to sign Aston Villa youngster Luka Lynch on a season-long loan, pending ratification from the EFL.
The U’s have been under a transfer embargo this summer, meaning that very little business has been done in terms of incomings to try and help new manager Aaron Ramsey reinforce his squad.
U’s Hopeful Of Unexpected Deal
However, the Yellows have been able to finally do some work on new signings, with a move for Kai Andrews on loan from Coventry City announced earlier in the week.
Now, according to The Athletic’s Jacob Tanswell, a new face could arrive at the Kassam Stadium in the form of Luka Lynch, who has been granted permission to head out from Aston Villa on a temporary basis.
Several clubs have been keen on making a move for the 19-year-old, with clubs in the EFL and Scotland all keen on recruiting the winger who was part of the matchday squad for Villa’s home opener against Arsenal at the weekend.
It is believed that while there is a hold-up due to the EFL needing to approve any Oxford United deals due to the embargo, all parties are optimistic that an agreement will be reached ahead of the 11 pm deadline.
Lynch was heavily involved in the Villans’ pre-season campaign, featuring in five of Unai Emery’s lineups and made the bench for their UEFA Super Cup clash against Paris Saint-Germain.
It will be his first taste of senior experience should a move go ahead, having played 11 times last season in the Premier League 2, scoring four times and providing two assists.

With an agonising wait for Oxford United to try and see out the window without losing any more stars amid the expected exit of Stan Mills to Preston North End, it seems that there’s some light at the end of the tunnel.
After Kai Andrews’ addition earlier this week, it now seems that the Yellows are on course to add to him with Luka Lynch, in what will be his first loan spell away from Aston Villa.
The 19-year-old will be keen to make an impression, and after progressing through the youth ranks in Birmingham, he will surely be a regular with such a thin attacking lineup for Aaron Ramsey to choose from.
