Three sides, including Sheffield Wednesday, have had offers accepted by Colchester United for star winger Kyreece Lisbie.
The 22-year-old has been the subject of a transfer war over the past few weeks, with five sides vying for his signature after a standout season in League Two, which saw him score 11 goals and provide five assists in the fourth tier.
Owls Make Step Forward
Now, an update has been revealed as to which direction Lisbie could be heading in the coming weeks, with the Reading Chronicle revealing that Colchester have accepted bids from Reading, Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town.
That leaves Oxford United on the outside looking in when it comes to signing the former Braintree Town man, with the latter the current employers of his twin brother Kyrell.
Peterborough United, the final team chasing a deal, have seemingly pulled out after owner Darragh MacAnthony commented on the rumours, stating that his side had been priced out of a move.
It is believed that all three teams with accepted bids have matching personal terms with the winger, with the tabled offers believed to be in the £500,000 to £750,000 region.
Lisbie is set to make his decision as to where he will play next season in the coming days, after reportedly holding talks with Oxford, Wednesday and Reading since the end of the season.
Pedersen At Disadvantage?
It is now inevitable that Kyreece Lisbie will be leaving Colchester United this summer, with the club now accepting offers from League One sides for their star player.
However, one of the three pursuers does hold a key advantage due to their previous work on trying to secure the 22-year-old, which may put Sheffield Wednesday at a disadvantage.
Reading have already trod this path before after their failed bid to try and sign Lisbie over the January window, with their efforts stifled on Deadline Day after Danny Cowley’s side opted to keep him in Essex.
The former Brentford youth prospect has crucially expressed a desire to play for the Royals in the past, and that factor could spell trouble for both Huddersfield and Wednesday.
Henrik Pedersen’s side may now have to regroup and improve their offer to Lisbie before the player makes his decision, otherwise the Owls may be handed an early-window blow as they aim to rebuild for League One.
