Brentford look set to sanction a second loan exit for young forward Iwan Morgan as a League Two side have begun negotiations over his services.

The 20-year-old has been in the Bees’ ranks since 2023, when he made the switch from Swansea City, and has progressed through their system to play in their development squads.

Salop Offer Return

Now, according to the Shropshire Star, Shrewsbury Town are eyeing a fresh loan move for the Welsh youth international, having handed him his first taste of senior football last season.

It is believed that Town have already entered negotiations with Keith Andrews’ side over a season-long stint back at the club to reunite with George Lloyd as Salop’s senior forward options for next season.

Morgan played 22 times at the New Meadow since his January move to the Midlands, and became a rising star under Gavin Cowan, who rescued the club from a relegation battle to finish 10 points above relegated Harrogate Town.

That effort rewarded the former Brackley Town man with a new two-year deal at the club, and he has already begun to move to improve his squad following the opening of the transfer window yesterday.

Shrewsbury have already got two new faces through the door with a swoop for Arkell Jude-Boyd from Cheltenham Town and Barrow‘s Isaac Fletcher.

Marquis Exit Could Allow Growth

A move for Iwan Morgan makes sense for Shrewsbury Town, with the youngster becoming an integral part of Gavin Cowan’s revolution of the club, missing just one game since his arrival in January.

However, this upcoming season could see him become more of an advanced option following John Marquis’ exit at the end of his contract.

The Salop captain had a very tough second season at the New Meadow, and at 34, allowing him to move on and find younger options was the best move for all parties.

A loan move allows Brentford to reassess their prospect going forward and certainly affords him another 12 months of development to try and prove to the Bees he could be an option behind Igor Thiago in the senior squad in the future.
