Injury Update Provided on Bristol Rovers Player

Bristol Rovers manager Steve Evans has provided an injury update for one of his key players after his side lost 3-1 to Fleetwood Town.

The Gas are in free fall at the moment. After winning five of their first eight games, they are now without a win since the end of September. Their poor form continued over the weekend as they lost against Fleetwood and were pushed even closer to the drop zone.

Evans’ side’s struggles are being made worse by the number of players he is currently without. One such player is midfielder Bobby Kamwa, who missed the defeat on Saturday after playing just eight minutes the week before. Speaking to the media after the game, Evans provided an update on Kamwa’s fitness.

Bobby Kamwa Injury is “Short-Term”

Speaking to Bristol Live, Evans was honest about the injury to Kamwa, but reassured Rovers’ fans that the injury isn’t too bad. He said:

“He just felt the top end of his hamstring when he came on last week. And, you know, we’ve had him scanned. That [the scan] shows clear, but the one thing Bobby Kamwa is, I love him he’s a very honest kid.

“And when he said he’s got a little bit of numbness in there, then we have to let the medical department take over it.”

The Gas boss went on to joke about not being good enough to the manager at the moment, never mind the head of medical:

“I’m probably not good enough at the minute to be the manager. But I’m not good enough to be head of medical.”

Big Miss for Bristol Rovers

Kamwa’s absence will be felt by the Gas. He is currently their joint top scorer tied with Fabrizio Cavegn on three goals, but does have the best scoring frequency with a goal every 202 minutes. Kamwa also has the third-highest total shots per match (1.9) and shots on target per match (0.6). That attacking intent would be missed by any team.

Playing from the left of the midfield, he has created one big chance and averaged 0.3 key passes per game. But Kamwa is yet to register an assist in League One this season.

He only joined the club this summer from Newport County, where he had eight goal contributions in the league last season. Kamwa registered five goals and three assists, while creating 11 big chances for Newport.

Rovers fans will likely be crossing their fingers that their influential midfielder isn’t out for too long.
