Burton Albion have struck a deal to sign Dundalk forward Gbemi Arubi, who was a previous target for Huddersfield Town.
A report in June revealed that both the Terriers and the Brewers were eyeing a deal for the 22-year-old forward, whose contract is set to expire at the end of November.

Albion Win Out
Now, according to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, Burton Albion are set to secure the services of Arubi, who has proven to be one of the better strikers in the Irish league since his move to Dundalk, scoring 19 times in 52 appearances.
While not named, it is believed that there were other sides chasing his services from England, Scotland and in Europe with Belgium, but they have all been beaten to the punch by the Staffordshire club.
It comes as Gary Bowyer’s side search for new number nines this summer in the wake of Jake Beesley’s move to Bradford City. They have already secured the services of one, striking a deal for Notts County‘s Matthew Dennis on a three-year deal.
Huddersfield Town have already added to their ranks with a free-agent transfer for Blackpool‘s Ashley Fletcher in order to replace Alfie May, who was sent away to their Yorkshire rivals in Doncaster Rovers on loan.
Dundalk were believed to be reluctant to sell Arubi midway through their League of Ireland season, but have since dropped away from the title race, now sitting 15 points behind leaders Shamrock Rovers amid a three-game losing streak.
Town Search Goes On
With multiple strikers leaving the club at the end of the season, Huddersfield Town needed to find replacement options this window and missing out on Gbemi Arubi is a blow to their efforts.
A sale was likely in order for Dundalk to avoid losing out on any fee for their talisman come the end of the League of Ireland season, and that has allowed Burton Albion to strike.
Along with Matthew Dennis, off the back of his excellent season with Notts County, Gary Bowyer now has two excellent striking options to replace the outgoing Jake Beesley, who was sold for a six-figure fee to Bradford City.
Now, Huddersfield will have to reassess their options in the market, and if they want someone who could challenge both Ashley Fletcher and Bojan Radulovic, then they could find a more than capable option in Alassana Jatta.
The Gambian forward is under intense transfer interest this summer amid bids from Danish side Horsens, and at a reported £425,000 fee, that could be a manageable amount to spend and continue to improve a squad that will hope to finally live up to expectations of promotion.
