Bromley have accepted a bid from an unnamed League One club for defender Deji Elerewe, with the centre-back now expected to complete a move pending personal terms, The Deck has learned.

The Ravens were forced into a decision with Elerewe entering the final six months of his contract, which expires in June 2026. With no extension agreed, Bromley have opted to cash in now rather than risk losing a key asset for a reduced fee later in the year.

The 22-year-old has been a standout performer this season following Bromley’s rise towards League One, establishing himself as a first-choice centre-back and contributing at both ends of the pitch. His form has inevitably attracted interest from a higher division, with the accepted bid reflecting both his age profile and development curve.

Elerewe’s pathway to this point has been gradual rather than immediate. A product of the Charlton Athletic academy, he made his senior debut in the EFL Cup in 2021 before gaining experience through loans at Wealdstone and Bromley. After two loan spells with the Ravens, Bromley moved permanently in February 2024, inserting a sell-on clause as part of the deal.

Elerewe’s recent impact

Before the bid was accepted, Elerewe’s recent form had been among the best in the division for a defender.

Across the season as a whole, his numbers underline why League One clubs have been circling. In 1,486 minutes played, he has scored twice and provided four assists, strong output for a centre-back. Defensively, he has won 74.1 percent of his aerial duels and 68.2 percent of all duels, while also recording 13 interceptions and 11 blocked shots. His presence in the opposition box, with 36 touches, points to a defender increasingly trusted to step forward and contribute in possession.

What it means for Bromley

The timing of the move is significant. Bromley currently sit top of League Two after 26 matches, holding a five-point cushion at the summit. Losing a starting centre-back during a promotion push is a risk, but the financial reality of the fourth tier means opportunities like this are rarely ignored.

With a sell-on clause already attached from Charlton and another fee secured now, Bromley may be positioned to reinvest while protecting their longer-term sustainability. Whether the replacement arrives immediately or internally, this deal reflects a club balancing ambition with pragmatism.

For the buying club, Elerewe represents a defender with bags of potential at League One level, still only 22, and showing clear signs of upward momentum. For Bromley, it is another marker of how quickly their recruitment model is being tested at this level.
