As we enter the business end of the League One season, we take a look at the players who have entered the final few months of their current contracts.
It’s been another campaign of twists and turns in England’s third tier. The unfancied Lincoln City are the surprise package and currently sit seven points clear of second-placed Cardiff City at the top of the table.
The top two look destined to take their place in the Championship, whilst Bolton Wanderers and Bradford City look set to extend their respective seasons in the play-offs. They will be joined by two of Stockport County, Stevenage, Plymouth Argyle, Huddersfield Town, Wycombe Wanderers and Luton Town.
At the other end of the table, Port Vale are set to return to League Two at the first time of asking. Northampton Town and Rotherham United look to be joining the Vailants, with Blackpool, Exeter City, Wigan Athletic and Burton Albion also in serious danger of the drop.
As a result of many clubs not knowing which division they will be playing in next season, decisions on out-of-contract players will be delayed until at least May. Let’s take a look at those who will be available as a free agent this summer as things stand, according to transfermarkt.
