Tranmere Rovers have officially announced the dismissal of manager Andy Crosby, following last night’s dismal 3-1 defeat away at Newport County.
Sam Finley gave Rovers an early lead in South Wales, but put his side on the backfoot at the end of the first half. Receiving a red card, Newport completed the comeback to emerge 3-1 victors, lifting themselves out of the relegation zone.
Defeat in South Wales leaves the Merseyside club with only one win in their last eleven. While sitting eight points ahead of the relegation zone, fans are looking over their shoulders with the sides below them catching form.

As a result of this form, the club have officially announced Andy Crosby’s dismissal via their official website.

This will see youth team manager Andy Parkinson take interim charge for the club’s match against Oldham Athletic on Saturday, with Connor Jennings serving as assistant.
Crosby initially stepped up as an interim last season, following Nigel Adkins’s sacking in February 2025. The 53-year-old delivered the club safety at the end of the season with some impressive wins at the back-end of the campaign.
This season, the Prenton Park outfit have struggled to find consistency at any point of the season. And have squandered a lot of leads of late, having the worst defensive record in League Two with 62 conceded.
What Next For Tranmere Rovers?
Relieving Crosby of his services is perfectly understandable, and perhaps overdue. Defeat to Newport has helped another side back into the relegation battle, in which the sides below them are beginning to pick up form in parts.
Harrogate Town have emerged undefeated in their last five, while Steve Evans has been able to navigate some handy wins for Bristol Rovers.
While an eight-point gap remains between themselves and 23rd-placed Barrow, any continuation of current team forms would swiftly see Rovers carried into the fight to stay in the division.
Their final five fixtures are particularly challenging. In the late stages, the Super White Army will face promotion challengers in Colchester United, Chesterfield, MK Dons, and Grimsby Town. While a potential relegation six-pointer against Bristol Rovers is on the cards.
So, wins need to come soon. While easier said than done, two victories would give the club a seismic cushion and ease any relegation fears for the final month; however, something needs to change, and quickly.
