Swansea City are reportedly in talks to sign FC Porto midfielder Stephen Eustáquio on a permanent deal, as they look to finally secure their long-term replacement for Ethan Galbraith, who departed for Stoke City earlier this transfer window.
The Swans have been in the market for a midfielder since Galbraith’s departure, with some deals coming very close, such as Ousseynou Fall Seck, who came extremely close to joining the club, but ultimately the deal did not materialise.
Despite their recent struggles to secure more signings, it looks like they could finally have a breakthrough, with a Canadian World Cup star reportedly close to making the move to South Wales.
Eustáquio To Swansea?
According to Tom Coleman, Swansea City are closing in on a deal to sign FC Porto midfielder Stephen Eustáquio on a permanent deal.
The Canadian midfielder starred for the Canucks throughout the World Cup this summer and is reportedly set to join the Swans for a fee of around four million Euros, according to Ekrem Konur.
He would be a solid addition to the Swans’ midfield and would be a huge influx of much-needed experience in a very young Championship side.
The Perfect Addition to Their Midfield?
A player with over 150 appearances for Porto, including games in the Champions League and Europa League, it certainly does not get much better for a Championship club.
If the Swans are able to complete a move for the 29-year-old, it would be a huge statement of intent for Vitor Matos’ side, who are looking to build on a solid start to the season.
With time in the transfer window running out, a deal would need to be struck quickly. However, with some reports saying a deal is as close as the player travelling to Wales, it could be sooner rather than later that we see Eustáquio in a Swansea shirt.
