  1. Not exactly riveting some concern here as to is he another we try and fail.
Spend on ground £8/9 million is great but football is about scoring goals.
Crowds of 30000 plus should give balance sheet better ratio against others.
We need a proven goalscorer even if we let other players go to balance books.

Premier League Outcast Agrees Sheffield Wednesday Switch

Sheffield Wednesday are set to be in receipt of an impressive transfer coup, following a development in their pursuit of a Premier League forward.

Henrik Pedersen’s side kicked off their campaign with back-to-back victories over Bolton Wanderers (EFL Cup) and Leyton Orient before slipping to defeat on home soil against Bradford City.

The club have recorded 27 shots at goal during their opening two League One matches, but have only converted one of them – with their other goal coming from the penalty spot.

This statistic suggests an addition to the forward line could prove to be key if the club are going to be successful in returning to the Championship at the first attempt.

Sheffield Wednesday agree forward deal

Following their relegation to the third tier, Sheffield Wednesday have unsurprisingly been busy in the transfer window, sealing the permanent return of Barry Bannan from Millwall, whilst also adding to their arsenal with the likes of Louie Barry, Mason Burstow and Ricardo Santos.

However, their defeat against Bradford likely highlighted areas of concern that Petersen and his recruitment team may want to address before the transfer window closes next week.

In League One, the club have a goal conversion rate of just 3.7% so far – which isn’t likely to be enough moving into the first-half of the campaign in their promotion push.

Therefore, the club have wasted little time and have agreed a deal to sign Ipswich Town outcast Ali Al-Hamadi, as reported by journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 24-year-old featured in all three of Iraq’s group stage matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and spent last season on loan at fellow League One side Luton Town .

Al-Hamadi hasn’t been awarded a squad number at Ipswich for their 2026/27 Premier League campaign and has instead been featuring for their U21s, scoring during a 4-2 loss against Coventry City in the PL Cup.

He is under contract with the Tractor Boys until June 2028, suggesting both loan and permanent moves are options for him.

Is this a good move for Sheffield Wednesday?

The 2025/26 season was a challenging campaign for Al-Hamadi, registering just two goal contributions across his 16 appearances in all competitions, two less than he managed in the year prior.

However, the 24-year-old is a regular international for his country and has had a two year stint where he’s rarely started matches.

Sheffield Wednesday have other forward options, but Al-Hamadi brings the uniqueness of being an international forward as well as having the ability to play out wide as well as through the middle.

The details of the transfer are yet to be revealed, meaning he could be joining either on loan or on a permanent contract.

A temporary agreement would likely pose the lower risk for Sheffield Wednesday, knowing the deal could he terminated in January should he struggle.

Though, with their current need for a reliable goalscorer and Al-Hamadi proving he has what it takes at AFC Wimbledon previously as well as glimpses since – this could prove to be a great piece of business if he can get going once again.
