One of England’s most in-form teams, Bristol Rovers, are closing in on a new deal for one of their key players.
Rovers are currently on a six-game unbeaten run heading into the final game of the season.
In their last 10 games, they have won nine and lost one, in what has been a remarkable turnaround under Steve Evans, who joined the team in the bottom two.
One player who has caught the eye under Evans is forward Ellis Harrison. With his deal set to expire this summer, there were concerns he might leave the club.
However, it appears Bristol Rovers have made a breakthrough in discussions with him.
Ellis Harrison to Sign New Deal
Bristol Live have reported that 32-year-old Harrison is closing in on a new deal to extend his stay at the club.
The forward joined on a free transfer last summer after leaving MK Dons at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Finding His Scoring Boots
The news of a new deal comes days after Harrison netted a hat trick in Bristol Rovers’ 4-0 win against Cheltenham Town.
His three goals helped him receive a perfect 10 out of 10 rating from Sofascore, scooping both the match ball and Man of the Match award.
Those three goals took his tally for the season to double figures in the league. With 10 League Two goals, he is just one short of Fabrizio Cavegn with one game left to play.
The Welshman has had an up-and-down season, reflected in his average rating of 6.75 from Sofascore.
He’s started 22 of his 37 league appearances, averaging 51 minutes per game and playing 1880 minutes altogether.
In front of goal, Harrison has averaged 1.6 shots per game and 0.6 shots on target per game. He could have had more goals this season, missing 11 big chances this campaign.
Finishing the season on double-figure league goals is likely the minimum he set himself before the season. He, and all those around the club, will be hoping he does the same, and more, in what could be an exciting season next campaign for the club.
