London City Lionesses have announced the signing of midfielder Daniela Arques. The move is still subject to international clearance.
The club have announced that she will be moving to the WSL on a three-year deal. The move comes after her time with Sporting Clube de Portugal.
Previous Career
The midfielder began her career with SMX Athletic Club de Murcia, playing with their youth team. She played with the club from 2016 to 2021.
Her next move was to Alhama CF, where she made her senior debut as a teenager. She spent two seasons with the club’s first team.
In 2023, she made a move to Levante UD. Her time there gave her time competing in Spain’s top division, demonstrating the progression over her career. This experience will serve her well with London City Lionesses.
International Career
The Spanish international has played for her country at youth level, representing both the U16 and U19 teams. As a result, she has been part of many international wins.
In 2022, she joined the U16 Spanish team to play in the UEFA U16 Development Tournament. The team went on to win this tournament.
She then joined the U19 international team, where Spain won consecutive UEFA European Women’s U19 Championships in both 2024 and 2025, making her a consecutive title winner.
Time with Sporting Clube de Portugal
Before signing with London City Lionesses, the young player spent a season with Sporting Clube de Portugal, where she played for their senior team.
She joined the club in July 2025, where she played 32 games. She achieved three assists last season, establishing herself as a key talent.
After a short stint, the midfielder has chosen to leave the club, making a move to the Lionesses. It will mark her debut in the Women’s Super League.
Moving to London City Lionesses
The 20-year-old has been announced as the club’s latest signing. She has spoken of her excitement to be heading to the Copperjax:

The move to London will mark her first experience of English football, with a contract that keeps her with the Lionesses until at least 2029.
The Correct Choice for London City Lionesses?
Arques has proven her expertise through her career in Spain and Portugal. She has demonstrated her ability to perform as a key player in top-flight competitions.
However, its is also important to recognise that the midfielder is still young. London city must prioritise her development and ensure that she fits well into the team.
The club appear to be building a strong team ahead of next season. Daniela marks the third Spanish player they have signed this season, after Alexia Putellas and María Leon.
