Lincoln City Boss Michael Skubala has hailed his side’s performance in the 4-0 home win over Blackpool, claiming it epitomises all that is good about his squad.

The Imps are now 17 unbeaten after producing their 13th home win of the league campaign.

‘Got The Job Done’

City found it harder to dispatch Blackpool than they had with Northampton Town in their last home fixture, but Skubala was delighted with how his team dealt with the challenge. He told the club’s official site:

“This epitomises the group, not just the starting XI, but everyone who came on was absolutely magnificent.”

“We knew this would be a tough game, and in the first half, we had to wrestle control. We made a few tweaks at half-time, and we got on top of them in the second half.”

“That second period was one of our best performances of the season – not just in terms of the goals we scored, but the way we limited their chances.”

“We know we can suffocate teams and make it very hard for them to get out. We have spells like that where you can just feel goals coming.”

The visitors had acquitted themselves well, and the Lincoln boss had just made a change to go with a back five in an attempt to get back on top when Rob Street latched on to a terrible back pass and rounded Bailey Peacock-Farrell before rolling the ball into an empty net.

From that moment, the home side turned the screw.

“As soon as the second goal went in, I felt we would get more, and the lads got the job done.”

Dom Jefferies added a third moments later with a well-taken strike low to Peacock-Farrell’s left before on-loan Sheffield United striker Ryan Oné scored a fourth to give the score line a comprehensive look.

Ian Evatt’s Seasiders stayed in the game and made Lincoln work for the victory, but the Imps never really looked like dropping points.

Title Chasers Prepare To Face Off

Lincoln City’s run of 17 games unbeaten, including 13 victories, has seen them chase down Cardiff City and close the gap at the top to just one point.

Next Saturday, Skubala takes his side, and around 3,000 supporters, to the Cardiff City Stadium to take on the Bluebirds in a mouth-watering game top of the table clash.

Skubala told his club’s official website:

“It’s an exciting game, and it’s the fans’ job to dream, we’re focused on going there and giving a good account of ourselves.”

“Ultimately, there are three points on offer for any match, and this one game will not decide our season, but we can look forward to next week.”
