The FA Cup second round draw details have been revealed following yet another weekend of thrills and spills in the world’s most famous domestic cup competition.
It’s been another fantastic weekend of football in a competition that just keeps on giving. Saturday saw sixth-tier Kidderminster Harriers stun League One’s Doncaster Rovers with an emphatic 3-0 win, whilst National League South outfit Salisbury booked their place in the second round for the first time with a 6-0 triumph against Sholing.
Arguably the tie of the round was today’s lunchtime kick off, where eighth-tier Stafford Rangers hosted Grimsby Town. The home side were two goals to the good before the Mariners thought back to force extra time.
Stafford took the lead in the first period of extra time, but the reliable Géza Dávid Turi restored parity as an entertaining encounter eventually finished 3-3. Grimsby survived the scare by winning the resulting penalty shoutout to book their place in the second round.
As a result, Guisley are the lowest ranked team left in the competition following a late 1-0 win over Sutton United.
When Does The Second Round Draw Take Place?
The FA Cup second round draw will take place Monday night prior to the final first round clash between Plymouth Parkway and Berkhamsted. The pair both play in the Southern League Premier South and will guarantee that a seventh-tier side will take their place in the next round.
Plymouth will be favourites heading into the tie, where they sit fourth in their division, four points off the leaders. Meanwhile, Berkhamsted have settled in mid-table and head into the clash without a win in the last four.
The draw is scheduled for 6:45pm and will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 1, HBO Max, and the TNT Sports YouTube channel.
